Ella got sick

Wednesday when Ella got home from school she was running a fever and threw up. The day before she had developed a cough and I assumed she just had a cold. Her throat was hurting so matt took her over to the local health plus clinic for a strep test and to get a doctors note to miss school the next day.

At the office they checked her oxygen stats and they were in the 80s. Not good. So they sent her straight to the Er. By the time I got there with the boys they had sent her back for a chest X-ray. Matt took the boys home and Ella got worse. Her fever spiked. She was unable to speak in complete sentences because she was having trouble breathing. Over the next few hours the decision was made to send her up the hill to mission hospital for observation. At McDowell hospital she was having to remain on oxygen for her stats to stay in a safe range. There they had given her breathing treatments and steroids. Ella loved the ride over. She said the ambulance was like a space ship. On the ride over we could tell things were getting better. At mission they were able to let her stay on room air and didn't have to I've her oxygen.

A few things happened to get her this sick. The X-ray showed what was thought to be pneumonia but upon further diagnosis was determined to be a condition where the tiny air sacs at the top of her left lung had collapsed. She was also diagnosed with a viral lung infection which caused the fever. Which brought in asthma like symptoms.

The next day we were released. Ella is doing much better.

I am thankful for so many things- the quick actions of the doctors, my friend Jen for coming to the hospital to advocate for me (she knew I would be a wreck), my girl for being so brave and strong, and for my Heavenly Father keeping his hand of protection on us.

The pictures are of Ella at McDowell before the transfer, on the space shop ride, and in the playroom on the peds floor at mission. She loved crafting in the play room!
