KINDERGARTEN!!!

Today was the big day. Matt stayed home from work this morning to help take Noah to his first day at school. After our morning routine, we loaded up the van and headed to Marion Elementary. Noah walked right in and did fine. I felt the tears in my eyes but didn't let them fall. When I picked up I found out that he had a pretty good day. Some perks: chocolate milk at lunch, music class, a girl named Lindsey, recess on the playground, and his teacher is really pretty and nice. He also got to keep his green card all day (behavior chart). Some downsides: rest time, and sadly - he told me he cried this afternoon because when I dropped him off I said I would see him in a little while. He took it literally and got upset when he realized it had been "a little while." He's looking forward to going back all ready and I'm so proud of my big boy. I'm going to miss having him around all day!

The Last Days of Summer

Today we headed to Black Mountain to the park and pool. Unfortunately the pool was closed! So we decided to feed the duck and Geese and head over to what Noah calls "Terebithia Park." We still had a blast even without the pool. Tabitha and Kim and their kids got to join us for time in the creek, watching the ducks attack each other over some bread, and a great picnic lunch. Wednesday is the big day and we are trying to make every second count until then!

Last week's playdate at Kim's house

Last Tuesday while Noah was playing at Granny's, Ella and I headed over to Kim's house to play. Ella had a blast playing baby dolls with some of her best buds. Avery, Sylvie, and Ella enjoyed riding the pony together, and to top it off, Ella loved getting the whipped cream squirted in her mouth. All the kids thought that was hilarious!

Kindergarten anxiety

I've got it. It's 3 days away, and I have a heavy heart at the thought of it! Noah has never been too far away from me, and if he has it's been just for a short time. We were blessed that for the last 2 years, his preschool teacher has been one of my closest friends, so I never worried about him for those three hours. Wednesday marks a whole different story!

This morning I opened up my devotional and it was meant exactly for me, on this day, and on Wednesday when I drop him off. It's titled "Entrust your loved ones to me." It went on to say "They are much safer with Me than in your clinging hands.... My Presence will go with them wherever they go, and I will give them rest...just as I will give you rest."

This week is going to be tough on me, I can't believe my baby is going into kindergarten. I am so proud of the little man he is and I know he is going to do great.

Noah's Soccer Schedule - Open Invitation

Tonight we had Noah's parent meeting about the upcoming soccer season. Games will be each Saturday from September 12th through October 31st at 9am. I know that is early, but we would still love for anyone to come who wants to help us root him on. Let me know when and if you can make it so we can plan to cook out lunch after the game.

We are looking forward to experiencing Noah's first attempt at sports with him. I think that he's going to do a great job!

Life goes on

I discovered my camera is in Charlotte, I left it there while visiting my sister 2 weekends ago. I'll get it back from her this weekend when we all head to Alabama (hopefully all of my siblings and their families will be in the same place for the weekend - a rare occasion!).

We are staying busy. I am determined to make the last week and a half before Noah starts kindergarten great for him. We have had such a great summer and want to end it with a bang. We're going to the last of the free movies in Morganton tomorrow, hanging with Nana and Papa and the gang this weekend, and next week will be a whirlwind of playdates, pool time, and fun. I can't believe my little man is about to start this next chapter of his life! I am so blessed to have such an incredible son. I think he's going to do great in kindergarten. I don't know how well I will adjust to the change (and Ella will definitely miss not having her best friend around during the day). Kindergarten, soccer, and lots more are heading Noah's way. I'm so glad I get to be his mommy through it all.
