Mary's 60th Birthday

Mary's 60th birthday was in early January.  How lucky is she, to share her birthday with her firstborn son, and his firstborn son!  I just now to day was able to pull these off of my phone to load up on the computer, so forgive the time gap.  We had a sweet evening, filled with people who love Mary, great food, and her sons took the time to give her words of love and affirmation (and even a poem!).  I love being a Siak, and being a part of such an amazing extended family!

The Great Winter of Sickness

Oh sickness.  The smell, the lysol, the grossness.  We have had it all.  And, my kids have this wonderful plan where they don't want to get sick all at once, they want to space it out as back to back sickness (haha).  Last November it was the flu.  Over a 4 week span, we all had it.  February?  The stomach virus.  And this wasn't just your run of the mill virus, it's the 4-5 days, nothing stays down, horror movie style, stomach bug.  Ella was down for the count last week.  Last weekend it hit Luke, and early this week it hit Noah.  Luke struggled the hardest.  Tuesday after talking to his pediatrician (we couldn't get to Asheville because of the sleet), we were urged to take him to the local clinic, who then urged us to go to the ER for fluids for our dehydrated little guy.  He was a champ.  And oh so thankfully, yesterday we turned a big corner.  Luke ate 3 meals and kept them all down!  Noah seems to be better, and so far, Matt and I have been spared from this.

Our family goal for 2015 was to memorize more scripture.  Our big chalkboard in the kitchen is our hub.  We have a list of what we are memorizing, and what we are praying for.  It's so awesome, that we get to let the kids check off prayers that have been answered.  And that verse - while they are getting it pretty much nailed down, for discipline purposes I am leaving it up for a few days extra :)

So here is to spring time, down with that stinking groundhog who saw his shadow, warmer temps will come, and with it the opening of the windows will let the germs fly away and healthy kids will run though this house.  Oh, and oils.  I drank the koolaid.  My thieves oils should be here any day now to help boost their immunity.

13 years

13 years of marriage.
That's a big deal. I've loved, and been loved by this stud for a long time. I could list out all the things we've conquered, all the journeys along the way of 13 years together...

But instead of doing that, I will just tell you that I am blessed beyond measure. What we share is special. It is real. And it is a gift. Happy anniversary Matty. I adore you.
