Last Weekend

Last weekend I went to Charlotte to celebrate Bek's bachelorette party. We had so much fun! We rode in a limo, danced, and laughed a whole lot. Less than 5 weeks till the wedding!

Warmth...we are so thankful!!!

Last night in the middle of the night I woke up freeing and knew that it had happened. We had run out of oil a day early. I had called our oil company and scheduled an appointment for them to fill us up on Wednesday, but we ran out earlier than we thought we would! I got up and turned on the radiator heaters, put hats on the kids while they were sleeping, and we made it through the night. Thankfully, I called the oil company this morning and they agreed to come out today instead of tomorrow. I was so happy when that oil truck pulled in our driveway that I think I startled the driver with my excitement. This morning, since we knew we'd need to be out of the house to stay warm until he got here, we went up to Hickory and got to see some snow (it missed us!) and Noah got to spend his birthday giftcard to get a new leapster game. It was a crazy night and morning, but I sit here so thankful that we have the fire going again! We have so much to be thankful for and I take it for granted too often that we have a home with heat and a car that can get us out of the house if we need it! What are you thankful for today?

To Nana and Papa Scoggins

Ella and I were hanging out in the dining room this morning and she was busy working on the names of the people on the screen. It was so cute I had to grab the camera and share it with you. We miss you guys!

This time of year means a lot of different things to me. It's a new year, a new start. Noah has a birthday. And I am reminded of the miracle God performed for Noah and I five years ago. I cannot believe it's been 5 years and I am so utterly grateful that God allowed me to not go home yet. I get to watch my children grow each day, I get to fall in love with my husband over and over again. I get to be a part of an awesome family. All because on January 14, 2004, God decided to breathe air back into my lungs and let me live. If you don't know our story, you can go to http://www.ardsusa.org/ARDSstories4.htm#sarasiak to hear about what happened oh so long ago. Thank you to everyone who was there for the biggest event in our lives to date. Thank you for praying and for being a witness to what God did in our lives. We will never forget.

Prayer Request

I love to hear that people are actually following my blog! So I'm going to take this opportunity to ask you to pray along side of us for somethings we are facing in the future.

The first is our well situation. Our well has been working on borrowed time for several years now. I feel blessed that it has held out this long! We started losing water pressure about two weeks ago so I borrowed a compressor thinking it was just that we lost air in the bladder on the well. I unfortunately was wrong. We have the lowest amount of water we've ever had in the well. Thankfully, we will be getting our tax information in a few weeks and we will be able to use our refund to go ahead and tap into city water. Please pray with us that our well will hold out just a few more weeks! Until then we're using a lot less water and trying to conserve every day. God is faithful and no matter what happens I know we are in good hands!

Secondly, Matt and I are praying about him applying for a new store that is opening in Asheville. Matt worked the Arden branch for several years before we were married so he knows this territory very well. We would have to commit to at least a year to two years at this branch before he would move on to the next level. While we have thought God would open a door for Matt to move up while in Marion, we really feel like this could be a great step for our family. He has the potential to make a little more money, and Asheville is still on it's way up as far as industry goes. Anyone who knows Marion, knows that the industry here is at a standstill. Several businesses Matt was servicing have closed their doors in the past few months and there really is no way for Matt to land too many new accounts. We would also be closer to Matt's mom which would be a plus as far as help for me is concerned with the kiddos. Matt would have to work longer and more hours to get the branch up and running and the kids adore their Granny and uncles and aunts. Pray alongside us that if it is God's will, that Matt will be able to take this position. If it's not, pray for direction for us this next year. Matt will probably go on to district manager training this year if he does not take the Asheville store.

Thanks for praying with us. It is the most important thing anyone can do for us!

The best Chuck E Cheese trip ever...

Last night was Noah's actual birthday and we spent the end of his birthday week festivities at none other than Chuck E Cheeses. We really and truly had so much fun! It was so great to be able to just hang out and play with our kids. Granny and Gabe came along for some fun too. Noah got to open his presents from us (I was AMAZED that he wanted to wait until dinner!) Matt loved the 80s music they were playing and getting to play air hockey, Noah loved all the Sponge Bob games and the horse and car, I loved getting to see the kids in action, and Ella tried to be a "big girl" the whole time.
I feel so blessed that God chose to give me my Noah. He is such an amazing boy with a kind spirit. He is loving, crazy, musical, sweet, talented, and a joy.

Noah's birthday with friends today

Last Saturday

Last weekend we went to Hendersonville to celebrate a whole bunch of birthdays. Noah, Jack, Jeaneen, LJ, Mary, and John Sr. all have birthdays in January so we celebrated all of them at one time. It was fun and Noah loved starting off his birthday week this way!

This weekend.

A lot is happening this weekend! We are about to head to Hendersonville for a really big birthday party tomorrow. We are celebrating Noah (his 5th birthday is the 8th!), Jack, Mary, LJ, and John Sr.'s birthdays (they were all born in the first weeks of January). Also, my family is coming back from Israel and I will be so glad to have them on American soil. I'll post pictures from the party later this weekend. Hope you all have a great first weekend of 2009!
